How long have you been painting?

Ever since a child, but unlike most I never stopped and continued as an adult.

What is your inspiration?

Mainly music, I always listen to music whilst painting, examples being, Tina Turner, Elkie Brooks, Elton John. Sometimes I just feel the need to paint / draw and I always have a selection of "blueprints" which may turn into paintings at some time in the future.

How many paintings have you produced?

Honestly I have no idea, what you see on this site is a sample selection spanning 20 years, but I'm guessing its a few hundred pieces now. (not counting rough sketches).

How do you come up with a design for a painting?

Again I have no idea (sounding a bit dim aren't I). Some just come into my head, others I may put together from shapes I have seen at some point. To give a better indication, I often see things visually as a negative. i.e. I might see the sea and land and land as sea when looking at a map unless I am familair with it. The same applies to objects and views I may observe now and then.

Where did you study / graduate?

I have not studied art apart from basic school classes as a kid. I am self taught.

How do you sell your work?

Mainly people have got to know me by word of mouth and from some exhibition work I did back in the 90's. I used to exhibit annually but good venues are now so expensive to hire I cannot afford it any longer. Most are only open to clubs for hire not individual artists unless you are well known.

Who buys?

Since having a presence on the web over the last 7 years I have sold to more people outside my locality, mainly people wanting custom made paintings of certain colours to match interior design. I have sold a few to coroporate clients as well.

How much are your paintings?

They can vary, it depends on the work to produce it as well as the time and materials. You best contact me if you see something of interest or require a quote and I'll be happy to give you an idea of cost.

What do you want to achieve with your work?

I would like people to see that decent modern art does exist but as always only the "shock element" of modern day art gets the publicity. My favourite people to show my work to are those who have not had the opportunity or inclination to visit an art gallery or museum. Too much hype and words are written about art in my opinion and it scares some people away, I feel it's the painting itself that's important. They say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and that can be anyone.

Can I see your work in real life?

I am currently seeking a venue to stage a small exhibition so until I am successful in finding one here on this site is the only place right now sadly.
